Calculate Weeks
Calculator for the number of weeks before or after a certain date. As a start date, the current date is preset. This can be changed at will. Enter the number of weeks. It will be calculated from the start date, which date is this amount of weeks in the future and which is in the past. Possible leap days are taken into account.
Example: 6 weeks before January 1st is November 20th and 6 weeks after January 1st is February 12th. This is the case every year, as it is irrelevant for this period whether it is a leap year or not. If the period goes beyond the end of February, then this information becomes important and the result can differ by one day depending on the type of year.
The day of the week on which the two calculated dates fall is of course the same as the day of the week of the start date. The same calculation with days instead of weeks can be done with the Deadline Calculator, where the day of the week changes.
A week has seven days. It begins on Monday and ends on Sunday, this has been the international standard since 1975. In older traditions, the week can also begin on a Saturday or Sunday.
The week is probably derived from the four phases of the moon. Four weeks are 28 days long, which is somewhat close the time span from one full moon to the next full moon (29,5 days).
The week is the longest period of time commonly used in everyday language that corresponds to an exact period of time. The longer periods of month and year are not clear because their lengths vary. Therefore, specifying a period of time in weeks is particularly important when you need the exact duration.
