Split a Year - Calculator
Calculator to divide a year into a certain number of equally long sections. Please select if it should be a normal year (365 days) or a leap year (366 days) and indicate the number of parts (maximum 1000). A list is made with the date and time at which each part of the year ends. With regard to daylight saving time, your system's setting will be applied.
For example, if you divide a normal year into two parts, the time boundary between these parts is July 2nd at 13:00. In a leap year, it is 12 hours earlier, at 1:00 in the morning on the same day. The reason is that the leap day, February 29th, falls in the first half of the year, and the midpoint is therefore shifted by half a day towards the earlier half to align it with the later half. If you don't divide the year into two, but instead divide it into shorter segments, then the segments are shifted by the corresponding fraction of a day in a leap year.
The start is always on January 1st at 0:00, and the last part always ends on December 31st at 24:00. The latter isn't the technically correct way to represent this time, as 24:00 doesn't actually exist. It was chosen nonetheless to clarify that this entire day is included, and that the year and its final part only end at its precise end.
The division of a year into different parts is done here purely mathematically, without regard for practical application. This results in arbitrary times that are often difficult to reconcile with normal daily routines, opening hours, or similar considerations. Weekends, holidays, and the like are of course also not taken into account. The user is responsible for adjusting the exact times to make them practically usable. One possible application of such a calculation could be to find an appointment within each time period, which can then be chosen arbitrarily.
