Calculator Energy for a Number of Electric Vehicles

Calculates, how many electric cars can be supplied with a certain amount of electric energy for one year. This energy e.g. is produced by solar or wind power, for the calculation of the produced energy see there. This calculator works similar to the supplied households calculator. Preset for an average electric car is a consumption of 15 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers and 15000 annual kilometers, so 15/100*15000 = 2250 kWh per year.

Example: the 5 megawatts wind turbine from the example in the upper wind power link has an expected annual yield of 13.14 gigawatt hours of electricity and can theoretically supply 5840 electric vehicles with electric energy.

Electric vehicles are much better for the climate and the environment than vehicles with combustion engines, provided the electricity they use is generated using renewable energy. They are also locally emission-free and therefore contribute to significantly better air quality and thus better health in urban areas. Their expansion should therefore take place at least at the same pace as the proportion of electric cars increases. But this is already the case in many countries. At the same time, the power grid must also become more resilient. Warnings that a large number of electric cars will overload the power grid are only justified if the latter has been poorly planned and implemented. Even with a large number of electric cars, their share of the total electricity demand is manageable and not all of them charge at the same time. With intelligent charging solutions, the charging load can be shifted to a time when there is a lot of electricity in the grid, which can and should be financially worthwhile for electricity customers with appropriate electricity tariffs.
