Fuel Cell Calculator

Calculate the energy and the amount of water a fuel cell produces when burning hydrogen. A fuel cell is an energy converter, which transforms chemical binding energy into electricity. Often hydrogen, H₂, is used as a fuel and transformed into water, H₂O. This calculator refers to the use with hydrogen. Fuel cells can also use other materials, like methane.

Fuel Cell Energy

Amount of H₂: kg
Efficiency factor: %
Produced energy: kWh
Produced H₂O: kg

Round to    decimal places.

Please enter one value and change the efficiency factor, if needed. The other two values will be calculated. One kilogram of hydrogen has a heat value of 33.326 kilowatt-hours. At the combustion, it is transformed into 8.94 kilograms of water vapor.
