Examples: 1 Ångström², a typical magnitude for atoms, refers to 3.83 * 10^49 Planck areas. The cross-sectional area of a carbon atom is about 1.86 square ångström and thus about 7.12 * 10^49 Planck areas. The hypothetical cross-sectional area of an electron is 2,5 * 10^-10 Ų (input 0.00000000025) or 9.57 * 10^39 Planck areas.
The Planck area is the smallest area that can be meaningfully defined in physics, it results from the square of the Planck length. In quantum gravity, the Planck area is thought to be the fundamental unit of the spacetime area, much like a pixel on a screen. Its role in black holes is particularly fascinating. According to the Bekenstein-Hawking theory, the entropy of a black hole is proportional to its surface area, measured in Planck areas. This means that the information a black hole can hold depends not on its volume, but on its surface area. This idea raises profound questions about the nature of information and spacetime. In loop quantum gravity, the Planck area is considered a building block of spacetime geometry, suggesting that space itself might possess a quantized structure. It thus marks the boundary at which the classical notion of smooth areas breaks down and a new, quantized description of spacetime becomes necessary.
