Convert Rotation and Angle

Calculator for the number of rotations which an angle describes. One rotation is 360 degrees or 2 π. If the value is positive, the rotation is clockwise (right). For a negative value, the rotation is counterclockwise (left). Please enter one value, the other values will be calculated.

Round to    decimal places.

Examples: 10 degrees are 0.0277... rotations, these are 2.8 percent of a full circle. This value is, of course, one thirty-sixth. 1800 degrees correspond to 5 rotations or 10 times π.

During a full rotation, the outermost point on the rotating leg travels a circular path. If the rotation is incomplete, it is a circular arc. The arc calculator can also calculate the distance traveled for multiple rotations.
A rotation occurs at a certain speed; this speed is often constant, at least for a certain period of time. You can calculate this rotational speed here and convert the units of rotation there.

Rotation can be understood as the continuous increase or decrease of an angle. Normally, in many cases that are of interest, such a rotation is maintaining the length of the leg. If the length of the leg decreases during rotation, for example, because the rotating object is attached to a stationary point with a cord that winds up, then a spiral path is created. The rotation ends when the object reaches its attachment point. If the radius decreases, the rotational speed or angular velocity increases; if it lengthens, the rotational speed decreases. This phenomenon is called the pirouette effect.

Whether the rotation occurs clockwise or counterclockwise is referred to as the direction of rotation. Clockwise is right-handed, as the topmost point of the circle moves to the right. Turning the steering wheel accordingly causes the vehicle to turn right. The opposite direction is left-handed. The fact that clocks are built so that the clockwise hands rotate to the right is probably because this is the direction of rotation of the shadow of a sundial in the Northern Hemisphere.
