Convert Floors and Height Difference

Calculator for the covered height from the number of floors. Many apps, smartwatches or activity trackers indicate the difference in height not in meters or feet, but in floors. A floor is often counted as 3 meters, sometimes as 10 feet, which is slightly more. These values can be converted into one another here. Please adjust the conversion factor and specify floors, meters or feet. The other values will be calculated.

One floor refers to

Floors:
Meters:
Feet:

Example: with 14 floors covered, you have climbed 42 meters or almost 138 feet.

To calculate approximately how many calories you burn when climbing stairs, you can use the calories-stairs-calculator. However, a smartwatch also counts floors when you are not climbing stairs but rather an incline. The calorie consumption is different on this, see the calories-height-calculator. As a rough estimate, you can calculate 15 kilocalories for a 10 meter difference in altitude when climbing stairs, which is about one kilocalorie every four steps.

A smartwatch determines the floors from the altitude when you make a corresponding walking movement. It therefore not only counts when you walk up floors, but also, for example, on paths with inclines. The three meters per floor is just an internal conversion in the watch, which is intended to provide a better illustration. Floors are therefore not actually important, the relevant value would be the altitude difference. The altitude difference, in turn, is determined by a change in air pressure. However, since the air pressure can also change if you stay at the same height and steps are not always correctly recognized as walking movements, the indication of the floors is relatively inaccurate and prone to errors.
