Yield Data Solar Power Plant

Yield data from private photovoltaic systems in southern Germany. This data serves as an example of how much electricity can be generated in a specific location. Other values are to be expected in other locations and under other conditions. The relevant value is the yield factor, which indicates how much energy was generated per installed capacity. The unit is kilowatt hours per kilowatt peak, kWh/kWp. A value to be expected in Germany in a good location is 800 - 1000 kWh/kWp.

System 1

Location: southwestern Bavaria, Allgäu, near Kempten, 780 meters (2560 ft) above sea level
Type: roof system, orientation east-south-east, 122°, roof pitch 32°
Size: 5.92 kWp, 32 modules at 185 Wp from Wiosun
Inverter: SMA Solar Sunny Boy SB 5000 TL-20
Time of installation: 10/04/2010
Compensation: 29 cents per kWh for 20 years
Special feature: in order to avoid roof avalanches on the path below, a snow guard was installed before winter 2012/13, which keeps the snow on the system. The possible large amounts of snow in the Allgäu result in the system not performing for about 4 weeks in winter, as it is completely covered with snow.

Measured Yield

The network operator's billing period begins on June 1st. Therefore only measurement data from June 2011 onwards is taken into account here in order to always have the information for full years. From October 4th, 2010 to May 31st, 2011, a period of 240 days, 3217.7 kWh were generated. Projected over one year, this would be 4893.6 kWh, corresponding to a yield factor of 827 kWh/kWp. A low value because this period includes winter but no summer.

System 2

See Balcony Solar Power Plant
Location: southwestern Bavaria, Allgäu, near Kempten, 780 meters above sea level
Type: roof system, west-north-west orientation, 302°, roof pitch 32°
Size: 385 Wp, 1 module Meyer Burger White
Inverter: AEconversion INV315-50
Time of installation: 09/23/2022
Compensation: none, own consumption
Special feature: experimental system to demonstrate what a balcony power plant can also look like and to determine the yield in such a location. The orientation to the north, as well as the occasional shading from an overlying chimney and trees in the south, is interfering. The system will still pay for itself, it just takes longer. As expected, the yield is lower than on the other side of the roof, which is more suitable for photovoltaics.
