Price Table | Price per Amount | Price per Weight | Percent Table

Generate Percent Table

A calculator, which generates a table with percent values from single values. Please enter an arbitrary amount of single values, separated by spaces. The total sum of all values will be calculated and for each value, its percental share of the total will be indicated. If the total percental amount isn't exactly 100 percent, there is a rounding error.

Round to    decimal places.

Example table:
NumberValuePercent
1.1020 %
2.1530 %
3.2550 %
Total50100 %

The example table is pre-filled with the values 10, 15, and 25. Clicking on Example Values will enter these three values and 30 as fourth value into the input field. Then the calculation will be made. These values are chosen arbitrarily to illustrate the basic principles of this calculation. More meaningful values would typically be more and less regular.

Converting absolute values to percentages is frequently required for numerous uses. Examples include election results, mixtures of different substances, or proportions of a physical quantity such as length or mass. Percentages have the advantage of being easily comparable and conveying information about the relative proportions of individual items. However, this comes at the cost of losing information about the absolute values. Depending on the specific needs, one or the other form of data may be more appropriate. Often, it is best to provide both. This can be done by listing all values as percentages and also providing the total absolute value. From this, the individual absolute values can be easily calculated if necessary.

Presenting the data as a percentage table, comparing absolute and relative values, is a precise and clear representation of both types of data and contains a wealth of information. Such a table can, of course, become quite long with a large number of values. Usually, not all values in the table are needed, but often it is unclear in advance which ones will be crucial. Therefore, it is better to include too many values than too few. Long tables are more suitable for appendices and additional information for people who want to delve deeper into a topic than for short, introductory texts.
