Circles around a Circle | Draw a Circle

Drawing Program for a Circle

Draws a circle or ring in any color and size. Please specify the radius, thickness, and image size in pixels, select the colors, and press Draw. If the circle thickness is smaller than the radius, a ring or annulus is drawn. If both values are equal, a filled circle is drawn. The thickness must not be larger than the radius. The image has always a square shape, and the image size must be between 99 and 2500 pixels long and wide. This circle is drawn with a soft border. Colors must be specified in standard hexadecimal RGB notation. For large images, it may take several seconds to create.

A circle is a well-known geometric object used for many graphical purposes. Drawing a circle is, of course, also possible with various image processing programs, but sometimes this is not as easy. Here, a circle can be quickly created with the desired size and color. The circle's thickness is a graphical specification; mathematically correct, it would be called the annulus thickness or width.

A circle is a shape on a two-dimensional plane with a center, all points of which are equidistant from this center. Points inside the circle are closer to the center, while points outside are further away. The circle is point-symmetric about its center and has infinitely many axes of symmetry, all of which pass through this point. It is also rotationally symmetric about this point for any angle. Thus, the circle has the highest degree of symmetry of all two-dimensional shapes. The ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle is the famous number pi, π, an irrational number with the value 3.14159265...

For mathematical calculations with these shapes, see circle und annulus.
