Calculation and Drawing Program for Square Tessellation

A tool for planning a square tessellation. Enter the amount of squares (a maximum if 51 in width and in height), click on Create sketch and design a multicolored tessellation. Just try which combinations look good and which don't.
Material needed counts, how many squares you need of each color and in total. Drafts lets you choose a pattern and Create image gives you a png image, which you can print or use in other programs. You can see some example patterns in our Pattern Gallery.

Procedure: First, you should adjust the number of squares in width and height to suit your needs. Then, select one of the 16 available colors and fill the desired squares with this color, then fill other squares with a different color, and so on. This method is with many squares very labor-intensive. It is easier to select one of the predefined patterns first and then continue working with that. To do this, click on Drafts. The colors of the patterns can be easily changed. For this, select two color names. The order of the color names is the same as the colors in the palette. Change changes fields in the first color to fields in the second color, while Switch swaps the colors of the correspondingly colored fields. This change can be undone once.
The diamond key ♦ colors the entire field in the selected color. The dot key • colors the center of the field in the selected color. This center consists of one, two, or four squares, depending on whether their length and width are odd or even. The colored square next to these two keys indicates the currently selected color.
The images created with this tool can be downloaded and used as you want.
