Calculate Rectangular Field

Calculator for the perimeter and size of a rectangular field, with different units. Length and width are different, all four corners have a right angle. Calculate a Rectangle from Perimeter and Area

If perimeter p and area A are given, then the side lengts a and b can be calculated as p/4 ± √ p²/16 - A . Two different results arise from adding respectively subtracting the square root from the average side length.

A rectangular field.

Rectangular fields are very common and quite easy to calculate. This form is often chosen for agricultural land and building plots if the available space allows it. Rectangular fields of the same type are suitable for tiling an area without gaps. This is also possible with different rectangular fields, provided it is accepted that some field sizes are not freely selectable but are necessarily fixed. Seamless tiling means that the corresponding shapes can be placed next to each other in such a way that no gaps occur. This is often desirable to avoid wasting space.
A special form of the rectangular field is the square or quadratic field, in which all sides are of equal length. If a rectangular field is distorted, it results in a field in the shape of a rhomboid or parallelogram. In fact, a rectangle is a special form of a parallelogram.
Sports fields are often rectangular, from billard tables to soccer fields. Various other things also often have this shape for practical reasons.
