Calculate Hexagonal Field
Calculator for the perimeter and size of a regular hexagonal field, with different units. At a hexagonal polygon, short hexagon, all six sides and all six angles are equal, each angle has 120 degrees. Please enter one value and choose the units. The other two values will be calculated.
Units of measurement: cm=centimeter, dm=decimeter, m=meter, km=kilometer, in=inch, ft=foot, yd=yard, mi=mile, ²,sq=square, a=are, ha=hectare, ac=acre
The perimeter is, of course, six times the edge length. The area A is calculated from the edge length a using the formula

A hexagonal field.
With equally sized regular hexagons, the surface can be tiled or parqueted without gaps. This is not possible for regular polygons with more vertices. Therefore, this shape is used wherever tiling with regular shapes is desired, where each piece should have as many neighbors as possible. Honeycombs, for example, have this shape as their cross-section because it allows for high stability with minimal material requirements. Game boards, in both board and computer games, especially those with a focus on strategy, are also often constructed from regular hexagons. This is done this way, because those offer more directions of movement than shapes with fewer vertices. Floor tiles can also have this shape. Some buildings have a regular hexagonal floor plan. In Reading, England, there is a theater of this shape called The Hexagon. The Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City, USA, has a similar floor plan. The bell tower of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin also has a hexagonal floor plan. The town of Grammichele in Sicily was rebuilt hexagonally after an earthquake in 1693. In agriculture, particularly in professional fruit growing, a hexagonal planting system can be used. Trees are planted so that each tree stands in the center of a hexagon formed by six neighboring trees.
