Calculate the paper thickness and the number of sheets on a stack. Paper of course can have different strengths. Here, the thickness of standard 80-grams printing paper, one tenth of a millimeter, is preset. The thickness of a particular paper is measured by measuring a large amount of sheets and dividing this value by the number of sheets.

Example: a book with 672 pages has 336 sheets, 2 pages per sheet. Its thickness is 4.2 centimeters without cover. Then it has a paper thickness of 0.125 millimeters
Of course, it is not just paper that can be stacked, but other flat things too. This calculator can be used for this too, but it is important to note that the thickness of the individual pieces has a different unit than the thickness of the stack; the ratio of millimeters to centimeters is one to ten. Whatever is stacked must be hard enough that it is not compressed when stacked, otherwise the stack will be smaller than calculated. The stack must either consist of pieces of the same thickness, in which case the calculation is exact. Or the thickness of a piece is an average value, in which case the calculated size is an estimate, which is better the more individual pieces are stacked. Whether it is paper or something else, if the stack gets too big, it should be stabilized laterally, otherwise it could tip over. Some shapes, such as stackable boxes, are designed so that they can be placed inside one another. In this case the calculation is slightly more complicated. The stack height is then determined by the height of the visible part of a shape, multiplied by the number of parts, plus the height of the bottom part of a shape, which would fit into another shape but stands on the floor.
