Calculate Multiple Ratio
Calculator for a ratio of several values. The ratios are calculated in relation to a value that is set to 1 or some other value. Please enter up to 10 values and specify which value is set to what.
Example: the values 7 - 8 - 9 - 10, with the first value set to one, become 1 - 1.14 - 1.29 and 1.43.
If the reference cell contains the value x and this value is set to y, then the ratio of that cell to y is calculated by dividing it by x. Similarly, the ratios of the other cells are calculated by multiplying the corresponding value by y and dividing by x.
This type of calculation is always performed when certain information refers to a value, such as a quantity, and that value changes. A good example is a cooking recipe. If a recipe is for four people and you want to cook for a different number, for example, three, then you specify: Value 1 is set to 3. In the field for value 1 then enter 4 for the original number of people. Now, if, for example, one ingredient is pasta and 500 grams are specified for four people, then you enter 500 for value 2. The result is that 375 grams of pasta are needed for three people. The same calculation can be done with the other ingredients by entering their values in fields 3, 4, and so on.
Cooking recipes are probably the simplest and best-known example for this type of calculation, where several values are entered into a ratio based on a given proportion. Recipes are also encountered outside of cooking, for example in chemistry and engineering, such as in the production of alloys from several different metals. This is, of course, not something typically done in private households. Another area is the distribution of money, whether profits or contributions. This occurs when the total amount changes, but the proportions of the recipients' and donors' shares are to remain the same. Here, both percentages and absolute values can be entered.
