Time per Time Calculator
Conversion of a time specification per time span into other time units. This is useful e.g. for extrapolating, if only a part of a total time span should be counted. Please enter the first value and select the four time units. The second value and the time ratio in percent will be calculated. One year is counted as average year with 365.2421875 days.
Example: if you sleep 8 hours a day, you will sleep 121.7 days per year. This of course corresponds to 33.3 percent of the total time, since 8 hours is one third of a day.
Another example: if you also work 8 hours a day, then weekends, holidays, and vacation time must be included in this calculation. There are approximately 220 working days per year, so this equates to 220 * 8 = 1760 working hours per year. This would correspond to 73.333 full days per year, though the usefulness of this figure is debatable. It is probably more meaningful to say that 20.078 percent of the year is spent working.
Usually it is more meaningful to have the smaller unit in the numerator and the larger unit in the denominator for both times, since the denominator in many cases represents the total time. The same applies when using the same time units and a decimal fraction between 0 and 1 preceding them. This calculator also works if the denominator is larger than the numerator, although there are likely far fewer uses for this case.
When calculating time per time, both units first have to be made equal. Seconds are the obvious choice here, this calculator also uses them internally. For this, the respective value is multiplied by the unit value of the numerator and divided by the unit value of the denominator. For minutes, this unit value is 60, for hours it is 3600, and so on. The unit seconds then cancels out, leaving a number that represents the ratio. Multiplying this ratio by 100 gives a percentage, which is displayed here as the time ratio.
