Minutes to Time Calculator
A simple program to add and substract minutes to a time of day. A day transition will be ignored, only the new time of day will be shown. The calculation is done in the 24-hour clock. For calculating with a date, see Time and Date. Please enter a time of day and a number of minutes. The new time of day will be calculated.
Pressing the "Current time" button enters your own system time into the calculator above. By pressing "Result in row 1; delete result" you can continue calculating with the result. This can be useful, for example, to add the same period of time several times in a row.
Examples: you start watching a film at 19:45. This film lasts 100 minutes. Then you finish at 21:25. if you watch it from start to finish. An event that starts at 9:30 and lasts 280 minutes ends at 14:10. If you start counting at midnight, i.e. 0:00, you will have reached the thousandth minute of the day at 16:40.
Even events lasting from more than an hour to several hours are often given in minutes. The most frequently cited time span of this kind is probably 90 minutes, which is the length of a typical feature film, but also that of a double-hour class or lecture in many schools. Talks, concerts and other events are also often this length. The mathematical calculation to be performed is division with a remainder. The number of minutes is divided by 60 and the result is added to the hours. The remainder is added to the minutes. In both cases, the respective upper limit can be reached, in which case you get a time on the next day or in the next hour. For example, if something starts at 22:30 and lasts 220 minutes, then it ends at 2:10 a.m. For this calculation, it is advisable to use time in the 24-hour-format instead of p.m. for afternoon.
