Calculate Date Format
Convert time and date to a date format like YYYYMMDDhhmmss and vice versa. Such date formats are used in logistics, for example on shipping lists. With the date format, the time specifications are written one after the other without any separation, either just the date or date and time. The year has four digits, millisecond has three digits, all other information has two digits. It is not checked whether the information is correct or meaningful. Milliseconds are of course only relevant for formats that include the time units hours, minutes and seconds.
Current date enters this along with the current time and automatically converts it into the selected date format. The other two options are either to enter a date, with or without time, in the lower input fields and convert it to a selected date format with Format to date. Or to enter a date format according to the selected formatting rule in the upper input field and convert it to a date format with Date to format.
Example: the dateformat for 9/29/2022 at 8:14 and 23 seconds in the form YYYYMMDDhhmmss, so without milliseconds, is 20220929081423. If this value is followed by, for example, a 5, then this stands for 500 milliseconds, 05 would mean 50 and 005 would mean 5 milliseconds.
The default date format is YYYYMMDDhhmmss. This has the advantage for digital data that it allows for easy chronological ordering by sorting it alphabetically or alphanumerically. File names or folder names can use this string as the name or as the beginning of the name.
The readability of such date formats is of course not as good as that of traditional date formats, but with practice, it is not inherently difficult to read them. The format with the years at the beginning contains the longest and therefore often most important time span in the most easily accessible position.
